A Commitment to Life: Protecting the Unborn

Life is precious. It’s a belief that shapes who we are as a nation and guides our values. Over the years, I have come to recognize the sanctity of life, even in its earliest stages. Though my views have evolved, my commitment to protecting the unborn is steadfast. I understand this is a deeply personal and emotional issue, but it’s one that speaks to our shared values and our Constitution.

Respect for the Constitution and the Rights of the Unborn

The Constitution is our nation’s guiding document, and it outlines the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our future generations. The Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 took a step away from our founding principles by creating a right to privacy that extended to abortion.

  • Returning Power to the States: The recent overturning of Roe v. Wade is a return to the Constitution’s original meaning, allowing states to decide on abortion.
  • Interpreting the Constitution as Written: Our founders gave us a way to amend the Constitution if needed. The courts should avoid overreach and honor the text as it was intended.

My Views on Abortion and Proposed Actions

  • Valuing Life: I believe in the intrinsic value of every life, including the unborn. A woman’s choice should not outweigh a child’s right to live.
  • Educating and Supporting: Compassion and understanding must guide our approach. We must provide education on prevention, offer support for voluntary contraception, and ensure that those in need have access to the services they require.
  • Improving Adoption and Foster Care: Every child deserves a chance to grow up in a loving home. I will work tirelessly to enhance adoption and foster care services across the nation.
  • Encouraging Personal Responsibility: We should educate the public about responsible behavior and the potential consequences of choices outside of committed relationships.
  • Respecting States’ Rights: I will not push for federal legislation on abortion. This is an issue best left to individual states, but I will use my influence to promote a culture that values life.

Conclusion

Life is a sacred gift, and we have a moral obligation to protect it. My pro-life stance is not just a political view; it’s a reflection of my deeply held beliefs. Together, we can create a nation that honors life, supports those in need, and stays true to the principles that have made America the beacon of hope and freedom it is today. Join me in this important journey, as we strive to make America a place where every life is cherished.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I think there are educated people on this topic, but it really requires wisdom and neutrality to find the compromise I think Americans want. Most of the loud voices on this are on the extremes and I think most Americans will support the states making all abortion decisions, subject to SCOTUS opinions. Each state will be different, but that’s good for the competition of ideas we so desperately need. If a blue state allows abortion in the birth canal, and a red state bans them entirely, then each state will see how that works for them. I personally think late term abortions in any state will show a total lack of morality there and the state will naturally suffer in every area. I think the feds should stay out of it, and I think with time, most Americans will gravitate toward no abortions after the first term (perhaps a bit later), and the states are welcome to assist people who need financial help with an abortion, contraception, etc. early on. I favor no abortions, but we must have consensus to heal this nation. Most women who have abortions eventually come to regret it. The preamble to the constitution governs for me – we cannot kill our posterity. TY

    1. I am not sure I fully understand your comments, but I do try to view issues from all points of view, especially left and right. I usually find that the best solution for the most americans is in the center and not a partisan answer. Thanks!

  3. I believe that rape and incest should be excluded from nonavailability of abortion. I believe women need to be honored in this very much. Repent

    1. If you mean that rape and incest should be an acceptable reason for abortion, I understand that and really don’t have a personal position on it. I am torn on your question. I think each state should decide if that is acceptable and under our constitution, that will prevail. I do not think the federal government should be involved in deciding this on abortion, either in the legislature or court. Let the states decide, and if they do not take a position, then the people are free to do what they want. Thanks, and please write back if you want any clarification.

My Stance on the Second Amendment

My perspective on the Second Amendment is unequivocal. The phrase “Shall not be infringed” leaves little to ambiguity. The Supreme Court, albeit by a slim margin in the Heller decision, has clarified that the Second Amendment rights extend to individual citizens, not just collective militias. Nonetheless, various state legislatures and judiciaries across the country have deemed certain firearm regulations to be constitutionally valid. The Supreme Court has been relatively reserved in its validation of these regulations, and there are indications that it may lean towards limiting or overturning comprehensive gun control measures. A stance that, in my view, is congruent with the Amendment’s intent.

My Faith and the Leadership of Our Nation

In my commitment to the Christian faith, I identify as deeply devout. Nevertheless, I’m acutely aware that America operates not as a theocracy, but as a constitutional republic. In my reading, our Constitution emphasizes the liberty to practice any religion, but does not advocate for an absence of religious presence. As the nexus of faith and politics intertwines, expect me to vocalize my beliefs frequently, heeding the divine call to bear witness. Yet, my aim is to do so in a manner that acknowledges and respects diverse spiritual journeys, always seeking to enlighten rather than condemn.

My Views on Spending

At this stage, I do not have the kind of tools that the congressional budget office or well-educated economists would afford me, but the specifics herein are designed to give an idea of the magnitude of spending cuts I propose. Budgets will be refined as I am able to afford experts to assist me in making sure spending cuts will be appropriate in our financially complex nation. The federal government spent $6.5 trillion in 2022.

Keeping America Safe and Strong: A Plan for Security and Peace

In adherence to our constitutional principles, we recognize the paramount importance of ensuring the security and prosperity of our fellow Americans. My commitment to their charge, it is imperative for the United States to exercise vigilance in fortifying its boundaries, countering foreign adversities, and proactively addressing evolving security challenges. This necessitates a commitment to sustained defense readiness, inclusive of a state-of-the-art military infrastructure and comprehensive intelligence mechanisms.
